    The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police has arrested one person from Jamui district for allegedly spreading fake videos and rumors on social media about the attack and killing of migrant workers in Tamil Nadu. The viral videos created a lot of hue and cry and panic among the workers, prompting them to flee from Tamil Nadu to different parts of Bihar.

    The arrested accused has been identified as Aman Kumar, a resident of Digghi under Laxmipur police station area of Jamui district. The man was arrested late Sunday night and turned over to jail Monday, EOU officers said.

    He was booked under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy to commit an offence), 153, 153A, 153B (merely want to provoke with intent to cause disturbance), 468 (forgery to cheat), 471 and 505 and section 67 of the IT Act. A case was registered against the four named accused at the EOU on Sunday.

    “Four teams, each consisting of 15 policemen and constables, have been formed and are conducting raids to nab three more absconding accused. They have been sharing fake videos to create unrest and sensation among people and also to highlight false and fabricated news on social networks.” media,” an EOU official said.

    Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Headquarters), told on Monday that the EOU team is probing videos of alleged attacks on migrant workers.

    “A total of 30 such videos and posts were identified, out of which four videos and four messages from them were found to be misleading and fake. Based on these videos, an FIR was registered with the EOU against four persons and one of them was arrested from Jamui.
